Kenya Wildlife Service and Kenya Forest Service personnel also impounded a lorry load of logs from the Kisaju area of Isinya. The trees were being harvested from a river cathcment area prompting residents to raise the alarm over the logging and as NTV's Rita Tinina reports, the tree felling is a result of recent land transactions in the area.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Nation Media Group Chief Executive Linus Gitahi said the station would fully be managed by local talent and would therefore give a voice to the local people. www.ntv.co.ke A 16-year-old girl has been forced to get married to a man ten years her senior to enable her take care of her seven siblings, three of whom are deaf. The girl lost her father during the post election violence and her mother died a few years later. The girl who now lives in Migori after the family was displaced from Nakuru by the post election violence of 2008, had to drop out of school to take care of her siblings. She was forced to work mining gold in Masara Village but the earnings were not enough to take care of her siblings. The girl is married to a man who herds livestock in Nyabisawa Village, Migori.

The premier held lengthy talks with the group calling itself Kikuyu for Change urging them to ignore the notion that people from Nyanza Province and those from Central Kenya cannot work together for the good of the country. The meeting comes in the wake of growing support for Uhuru Kenyatta who hails from Central Kenya despite facing criminal charges at the International Criminal Court. This meeting also comes amid claims that the ODM presidential nominations should be scrapped to allow Raila become an automatic flag bearer, a move that could anger supporters of Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi who is also seeking the presidency on an ODM ticket.
